Dopamine Decor

Updated: Dec 17, 2025

In what feels like an endless stretch of winter, we need to bring some sunshine into our lives, since the actual sun doesn't seem to be shining much. Our houses are where we spend most of our time, so it is obvious that these spaces play an integral role in our lives.

Science and studies have proven that the things with which we surround ourselves directly affect our mood, productivity, and general attitude. I know that if I was only surrounded by dim colors, my day would feel as dismal as a rainstorm and that’s coming from someone who enjoys a good thunderstorm. It is especially important during these gloomy days to fill our surroundings with pieces that spark happiness. Because shouldn't every day be filled with joy?

The internet coined this idea of decorating with color as Dopamine Decor. There’s no need to go crazy and start wallpapering all of your walls in rainbow colors (unless that's what you like). A touch of fun and pop of color here and there will do the trick.
